Mike Redmon and Lynda Emery were two otherwise ordinary kids growing up in metropolitan Louisville Kentucky, but for being required to go before a judge to obtain legal authorization to get married. The reason: Lynda, age fifteen, was pregnant and Mike, the father, was only sixteen. As far as the law was concerned, they were both underage. While before the bench, the judge, a conservative and rather harsh individual, asked Mike a series of questions that included, "Do you love Lynda? Are you confident this is what you want to do?"
